5) How do I renew an item?
Click the above LOGIN TO YOUR ACCOUNT link (it's in the upper right of any page on our site). Or, go to OCPL's homepage at www.onlib.org. From there, click on "My Account" on the left and then click on "Login to My Account". You will be prompted for your library barcode and PIN number. See #6 below if you don't know what either of these numbers are. Then, click on "Items Out" at the top of the page. This will list all of the items on your record. Simply click the check box next to the item(s) you want to renew and then click "Renew Selected Items". If an item has a hold on it, you will not be able to renew it. You can always call or visit the library if you need to renew an item.
6) How do I place a hold on an item?
To place an item on hold, first find that item on the online catalog. When you have found the item you want to place on hold, click on "Place Hold". It will then prompt you for your library barcode number and PIN number. Your library barcode number is on the front of your library card (It will look something like this: 2 9850 XXXXX XXXX). Please enter this number without spaces. Your PIN number was set when you registered for a library card. It is a 4 digit number. If you cannot remember your PIN number, please call or visit the library and we can reset it for you. On the next screen, you have the option to choose at which library you would like to pick up your item at and if you would like the activation of the hold to be delayed until a certain date.
7) How will I be contacted when a hold comes in for me?
Email notification is the default when you sign up for a library card. If you provided us with only a telephone number then, that's how you will be contacted. If you provided us with both, then you can tell us which one you would rather be contacted by. We can change your contact information at any time. Please call the Skaneateles Library at (315) 685-5135 if you have further questions.
8) How do I change my PIN number?
The only way to change your pin number is to call or visit the library. We cannot see what your old PIN number is, but we can change it to anything you would like (4 digit numbers only). If you call in, please make sure you have your library barcode number handy.
9) Can I return Skaneateles items to any library in Onondaga County?
You may return our items to any Onondaga County public library and you may also return any of the other Onondaga County public libraries' materials to our library. However, other libraries could have certain items that may only be returned to their library.
